Joyful, Strange, Colorful: Behold the World’s Most Instagrammable Museums.
From modern art to optical illusions, we scouted the world’s most offbeat, colorful assortment of museums and found more than a few selfie opportunities along the way.
For decades, museums suffered a PR problem with younger generations, who dismissed them as boring and dusty, unjustly associating them with lame school trips and interminable lines. Recently, however, galleries and prestigious private collections have enjoyed newfound popularity, thanks to improvements in presentation, the curation of more engaging exhibitions and, of course, their more robust social media presence. These days, museums have their own accounts and partner with influencers and celebrities. Remember Chiara Ferragni’s work with the Uffizi Galleries in Florence?
Given our awareness of both the importance of culture and the value of a good selfie, we hopped on our Vespa to seek out the planet’s most random, fun and Instagrammable museums.
Here are our four favorites.
With 30 locations scattered across the globe, the Museum provides hours of fun. Just make sure your phone or camera battery is fully charged.
In addition to the multisensory exhibits, don’t miss the ice-cream tastings. New this year is the Night at the Museum experience with a cocktail hour, DJ set and rigorously rose décor.
Artistic and Special Editions of Vespas – Museo Piaggio
A 150 S Vespa decorated by Salvador Dalì in 1962, Luca Moretto’s pop-art rendition of the “Venice” Vespa model, and Gianni Depaoli’s Project with a shell in fish scales are just a few of the legendary models on display at the Museo Piaggio in Tuscany.
The most photogenic vehicle is the red-and-white polka-dotted Vespa Dolce Vita by Paola Navone.
Its impressive array of videos, photographs, drawings, sculptures, paintings and installations, whether on loan or part of the permanent collection, never fails to excite. This is a destination that’s sure to maximize your views on Instagram reels.
Now more than ever, art is in the eye of the beholder... of the photographer… and of whoever is clicking “like”.
