Riding Suggestions

It is really simple, you insert the key into the block, turn it right and push at the same time the front brake and the start button on the handle bar. We suggest to do this procedure when the Vespa is on the center stand.

Riding a Vespa has never been so easy: book a test ride experience to try on www.vespa.com/us_EN/test-ride.html

Motorcycle skills classes are highly recommended for all new scooter or motorcycle riders. There are many skills that are completely different from anything you've done in a car or even on a bicycle. Learning how to do them from a pro and in a protected environment can be very empowering. Some states require passing a skills class, at least for younger drivers, but most adults won't have to take one. Still, it's a great idea. Look for an MSRF-certified course. If you live in an area where such courses aren't readily available, then try to get an experienced rider to mentor you.

The answer to this question is "sort of." The thing is, though, there are lots of differences between motorcycles and scooters. One big difference is that motorcycles tend to manual transmission, requiring coordination of clutch and gear-shifting, while most newer scooters are automatic, which makes scooters much easier to drive. Scooters also tend to be lighter-weight than motorcycles, which makes them easier to balance.

Not really. Sure it helps if you know how to balance a 2-wheeled ride, but the addition of the motor really makes a huge difference that you can't overlook.

We suggest to do not ride Vespa in the sand

You keep an hand on the handle bar and with your right foot you push the center stand. Move your body weight to the right foot and the job is done.

Vespa offers different models that perfectly fit with your needs:
- if you want an easy, classic and light Vespa, Primavera is the choice,
- if you want a sportier and lighter Vespa, you choose Sprint,
- if you look for a powerful and comfort Vespa, the GTS & Sei Giorni are your vehicles,
- if you want to stand out from everybody, you ride a (946) RED,
- if you want to be the first one riding an electric Vespa, Vespa Elettrica is the one.

Both are good, it depends on what you are looking for. Our Electric Vespa has a battery range of 65 miles and goes up to 30 miles per hour. For a full recharge, it takes minimum 4 hours with a 220V power.
Our gas scooters are designed in different models and may satisfy different needs (i.e. riding for long distances).

Start getting confidence with the scooter in a low traffic area. You can go at a low speed trying to feel comfortable while riding. Do not try to go fast and pay attention to other cars, trucks, motorcycles, scooters and pedestrians. You may also consider attending a MSRF-certified course or ask an experienced rider to mentor you.

It depends... if you're talking about 50cc scooters that only go about 35MPH, it is possible that you're not taking a very long trip with them. Those smaller scoots are mostly used for moving around in town or for short commuting driving. But there are many other sizes of Vespa available these days, and each of those is capable of different speeds and distances. If you have a question about riding a scooter or which model is best for you, please contact our customer service and we will be more than happy to assist you!

If you prefer a low seat height, Vespa Primavera or Vespa Sprint are the best options for you.

Vespa Primavera 50cc, Vespa Sprint 50cc or Vespa Elettrica

Vespa 50cc has a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour and is one of the most reliable products into the market. Vespa has more than 70 years of experience and success!

Yes

With a scooter, it is always better to stay on the right side of the road

There is not a specific weight limit for a rider

Yes, all Vespa models are designed to perfectly fit one or two passengers

Again, this varies... with the scooter's capabilities. All scooters 50cc and above are considered street legal these days, meaning they must abide by the prevailing traffic laws, ride in the road (not on the shoulder or sidewalk), etc. Scooters equal to or above 150cc are freeway, interstate and highway legal. As a suggestion, to ride on an expressway type road, such as in interstate, you'll probably want to be on at least a 300cc scooter. Only you can decide if you are comfortable at those speeds, no matter what your scooter is capable of.

Yes, you can from a technical point of view, but we strongly recommend to avoid it for safety and good maintenance reasons

It s up to you! We love Vespa and we would ride it every hour of the day

There is no age legal restriction for passengers on motorcycles for the majority of the states.

Currently, only the following states have an age restriction for motorcycle passengers:
- Arkansas minimum age 8
- Hawaii minimum age 7
- Louisiana minimum age 5
- Texas minimum age 5, unless seated in a sidecar attached to the motorcycle
- Washington minimum age 5

While there is no age restriction for passengers on a motorcycle in the majority of the states, there are requirements for motorcycle passengers:
- the motorcycle must be designed to carry more than one person and the passenger must ride on a permanent seat
- the passenger must face forward, with one leg on each side of the seat
- the passenger cannot interfere with the operation of the motorcycle or the view of the motorcycle driver
- the passenger must wear a motorcycle helmet approved by the US Department of Transportation

Absent any mandatory requirement, let common sense guide you in determining if a child is old enough and big enough to safely ride as a passenger on a motorcycle. Also consider the additional risks faced by motorcycle passengers compared with passengers in a car protected with seat belts or child safety seats. If a child is not large enough to properly wear an approved helmet, then the child cannot legally ride on the motorcycle. If the child cannot place both feet flat on the passenger foot pegs of the motorcycles, then it is not safe for the child to ride the motorcycle.

3. After 6,200 miles, you need to change the engine oil, O-ring , oil filter, drive belt, spark plug, tappet gaskets, air filter and take up to 4 hours
