Riding Suggestions

Starting your Vespa is simple: insert the key, turn it to the right, then press the front brake and the start button at the same time. For ease, keep your Vespa on the center stand while you do it.

Yes – insurance is a must.

A motorcycle skills course is highly recommended for all new riders.
Riding a scooter is nothing like driving a car – and even seasoned cyclists will find it’s a different rhythm. Learning from a pro, in a safe environment, builds confidence fast.

Look for an MSF-certified course near you. If none are available, ride with a trusted mentor.

Are scooters like motorcycles? Kind of – but there are key differences.
Most scooters are automatic, so you won’t be juggling a clutch and gears. They’re also lighter, easier to handle, and designed for effortless riding.

Not really. Knowing how to balance helps – but once you add a motor, it’s a whole new experience.

Hold the handlebar, press the center stand with your right foot, lean into your right foot and you’re all set.

There’s a Vespa for every kind of rider:
For something light and easy for city riding – choose the Primavera. For this with a sportier look, go with the Sprint.

For power and comfort for longer rides, the highway-ready GTS is the way to go. To turn heads, ride the (946) or the GTV.

And if you’re ready for the future, Vespa Elettrica is waiting.

Both are great – it just depends on what you’re looking for. Our electric Vespa offers a range of up to 65 miles and a top speed of 30 mph. A full charge takes as little as 4 hours with a 220V outlet. If you prefer to go farther, faster, our gas-powered models are built for longer rides and come in a range of styles to suit every journey.

Confidence comes with practice. Begin in a calm, low-traffic spot and ride at a gentle pace. There’s no need to rush – get a feel for the scooter and stay alert to your surroundings.

If you’d prefer a little guidance, we recommend an MSF-certified course or a trusted rider to guide you.

It depends on the model. The Vespa fuel tank holds around 2.1 gallons, and each engine size can travel a different range:
* 50cc scooters - 150-200 miles per tank
* 150cc scooters - 100 miles per tank
* 310cc -130 miles per tank

For a lower, more accessible seat, choose a Vespa Primavera or Sprint.

The Vespa Primavera 50cc, Vespa Sprint 50cc or Vespa Elettrica are all more suited to shorter riders.

There isn’t a specific weight limit for Vespa riders.

Up to two passengers can fit comfortably on a Vespa. The GTS model lineup features a larger body with a larger seat. For more comfort.

All scooters 50cc and above are considered street legal, meaning that they must follow prevailing traffic laws and ride in the road (not on the shoulder or sidewalk).

Scooters 150cc and above are legal on highways, interstates, and expressways.
For higher-speed roads, we recommend a 300cc model for extra power and confidence.
Ultimately, it’s about how comfortable you feel – you should always ride at your own pace.

To keep your Vespa running at its best, we recommend avoiding full-throttle for that long of a time.

Total mile range depends on different factors like engine type, riding area, etc., but the engine is set up to ride all day if you want to!

In most U.S. states, there’s no minimum age to ride as a passenger on a motorcycle or scooter.

However, a few states do set age limits:
– Arkansas: 8+
– Hawaii: 7+
– Louisiana: 5+
– Texas: 5+, unless in a sidecar
– Washington: 5+

Even where it’s legal, safety comes first. Passengers must:
– Ride on a permanent seat designed for two
– Sit facing forward, with one leg on each side
– Avoid blocking the rider’s view or movement
– Wear a DOT-approved helmet

And remember: If a child can’t properly wear a helmet or reach the foot pegs, they’re not ready to ride. When in doubt, let safety guide your decision.
